MOVABLE DWELLING TENANCY

Moveable dwelling

When you rent a movable dwelling (e.g. caravan) under a long-term agreement, the park manager/owner must give you a written moveable dwelling tenancy agreement to sign. The agreement includes any park rules you must follow.

The park manager/owner must give you a copy of the agreement before they can ask you to pay any money for the tenancy.

ROOMING ACCOMMODATION TENANCY

If you rent a room in rooming accommodation your provider must give you a written rooming accommodation agreement that sets out what you both agree to.

You must also be given a copy of the House Rules as these form part of your agreement.

Domestic Associate?

A domestic associate is defined as meaning any person in any of the following relationships:
• a spousal relationship;
• an intimate personal relationship;
• a family relationship;
• an informal care relationship.

You can change the locks without the lessor/agent’s approval if you believe it is necessary to protect yourself or another occupant from domestic violence. (s211)*.

You can apply to QCAT for an urgent tribunal hearing and seek an order to be recognised as the tenant, or as a co-tenant, instead of the perpetrator (s245)*.

You can also seek additional orders, such as an order about the bond, or an order to prevent a tenancy database listing.
