ABOUT US

Established in 1986, Tenants Queensland (TQ) is a specialist state-wide community legal service providing free tenancy law advisory services for residential tenants.

We seek to represent the interests of all Queenslanders who rent their home and we pride ourselves in providing specialist advisory services to renters, advocating on their behalf and securing improvements to Queensland’s residential tenancy laws.

TQ manages the Qld Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service (QSTARS) programme – www.qstars.org.au and that’s where you come in.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The TQ QSTARS Tenant Advice Worker plays a critical role in the delivery of expert, accurate and consistent tenancy advice and casework services to residential renters.

You will be a part of the Brisbane North regional team, based in Spring Hill. You’ll be empowering and supporting tenants and residents by providing advice regarding tenancy law related issues by appropriately working on client referrals from the QSTARS Hub contact centre to the QSTARS regional office and at times from other community service providers.

ABOUT YOU

With a commitment to the principles of social justice, you will support TQ’s delivery of the QSTARS program by role modelling our values of empowerment and respect.

You will possess (or have the ability to rapidly acquire) knowledge of The Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008. The ability to relate to people from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds is essential and a Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant field, such as social work or human services and previous experience working in the Social Welfare or other community related sector would be highly regarded.

You’ll be a team player, you’ll have highly developed verbal and written communication skills and bring a can-do attitude. You’ll have the ability to work in a high functioning environment to successfully achieve program outcomes and outputs.
