Good bye Janet

Last week we celebrated the 36th work anniversary of Janet, our Administrator.

On the 29th of October 1989 Janet joined the then, Tenants’ Union of Queensland (TUQ) as Administrative Support Worker, starting three days a week.

Janet has been here for almost all our history – she is the TUQ / Tenants Queensland (TQ) history. She celebrated her 36th year with us and we turned 389 this year!!

Over the years Janet has worked on different projects and remained a steadfast pillar of support across the organisation.

From the early days, Janet was already playing an irreplaceable role and supporting the important work of a then young and burgeoning organisation. Janet saw us through our ‘limited funding days’ and Janet has been with us as a more mature and sophisticated organisation that continues to deliver important tenancy advisory services to people in times that are often stressful.

Working alongside colleagues, Janet has not only helped deliver the mission, values and purpose of TQ, she has made a positive different to hundreds of renters in Queensland over her three and a half decades. She has often been the first point of contact for our clients and members as well as for our team when they experience tech or admin issues. Her calm and kind response to the many and varied queries she fields daily exemplifies a professional but kind attitude.

Whilst we are very excited for her, we are also very sad to lose her steady hand, her depth of knowledge and the heart she injects every day into the organisation.

Enjoy retirement Janet!
