Successful Tenancies Project Manager

The Successful Tenancies Project Manager will lead a small project team to leverage and enhance the existing capabilities and expertise within Tenants Queensland (TQ). They will develop a common understanding of tenancy challenges faced by First Nations renters in Queensland, identify organisational and community strengths and opportunities and enhance capacity to better engage and enable First Nations people.

Working with the TQ team, the Project Manager will:

  • Develop and implement a project plan within the scope of the work to be completed, as well as managing the project from origination to close.
  • Monitor and complete project deliverables in line with funding obligations and adapt project activities accordingly.
  • Enhance organisational capacity to engage and communicate effectively with First Nations communities in tenancy related issues.

This position will build organisational capabilities in understanding the First Nations renters and the ability to engage and communicate sensitively with this communities. It is an occupational requirement that this position be filled by a First Nations person.

About You

With a commitment to the principles of social justice, you will bring

  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by First Nations communities in Queensland.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008.
  • Demonstrated ability in delivering and managing programs in the social welfare or community services sector (highly regarded).
  • Proven experience building and leading a small team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in person and online.

We seek to represent the interests of all Queenslanders who rent their home and we pride ourselves in providing specialist advisory services to renters, advocating on their behalf and securing improvements to Queensland’s residential tenancy laws.
