Purpose of the Position

We require a temporary office administrator for a fixed term (9 December – 2 January with the possibility of ongoing part time) to undertake the following:

• Work towards achieving the aims of Tenants Queensland and comply with all organisational policies and procedures.
• General office administration supporting the Brisbane and statewide offices.
• Reception of visitors to the Wickham Terrace premises and attending to phone calls and answering queries in a professional and courteous manner.
• Supporting the logistics of events and meetings including scheduling, catering and ensuring IT support is available where appropriate.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The TQ QSTARS Expert Support Worker plays a critical role in the delivery of expert, accurate and consistent tenancy advice and casework services to residential renters.

You will be a part of the Brisbane North regional team, based in Spring Hill to support the delivery of quality, accurate and consistent advisory services to Eligible persons throughout the region by assisting QSTARS workers and delivering casework services.  The position will assist the Regional Services Coordinator to ensure compliance with TQ’s risk management processes.

The Organisation

Tenants Queensland is a specialist state-wide community legal service and provides free tenancy law advisory services for residential tenants. TQ was established in 1986 and seeks to represent the interests of all Queenslanders who rent their home including those living in marginal tenures such as caravan parks and rooming accommodation. We pride ourselves in providing specialist advisory services to renters, advocating on behalf of them, and securing improvements to Queensland’s residential tenancy laws.

The Role

We are looking for two qualified Financial Counsellors, one full time and one part-time position (3 days per week) in Cairns (part-time only), Brisbane, Logan, Sunshine Coast or Rockhampton TQ office. With at least three to five years’ experience in delivering financial counselling services. The Financial Counsellors will have a strong commitment to social justice, to extend our range of tenant advisory services for Queensland residential renters.

You will financially empower renters by providing tailored and specialist financial counselling services to residential renters experiencing or at risk of financial hardship and you will integrate the services with TQ’s tenant advisory and legal work.
