Senior Management Accountant

This role supports the organisation’s operations by managing accounting and financial reporting activities of the organisation, overseeing the administrative systems and supporting the Leadership Team with sound financial advice and governance assurance.

About Us:

Established in 1986, Tenants Queensland is a specialist state-wide community legal service for tenancy law matters and provides free tenancy law advisory services for residential tenants. Tenants Queensland seeks to represent the concerns of all Queensland tenants who rent their home, live in rental accommodation, including those who live in marginal tenures such as caravan parks and boarding houses.

Tenants Queensland provides a range of tenancy information and advocacy services including a statewide telephone advice service for tenants (QSTARS), tenancy publications, a tenancy law training program and research and policy development in relation to tenancy law issues.

The Role:

This position supports the Tenants Queensland Business Manager in providing finance, budget and reporting services.

About You:

  • Qualified CPA / CA with relevant tertiary degree.
  • Two to five years post qualifying experience ideally in the non-profit sector.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial legislation, regulations and Australian Accounting standards.
  • Ability to lead and execute a corporate budgetary and financial planning cycle.
  • Extensive capability using MYOB as a general ledger system and financial reporting.

We pride ourselves in providing specialist advisory services to renters, advocating on behalf of them, and securing improvements to Queensland’s residential tenancy laws.

The Role

We are looking for one qualified Financial Counsellor for a part-time position (3 days per week) in Cairns, Brisbane, Logan, Sunshine Coast or Rockhampton TQ offices. With at least three to five years’ experience in delivering financial counselling services. The Financial Counsellors will have a strong commitment to social justice, to extend our range of tenant advisory services for Queensland residential renters.

You will financially empower renters by providing tailored and specialist financial counselling services to residential renters experiencing or at risk of financial hardship and you will integrate the services with TQ’s tenant advisory and legal work.
